Purpose
The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme began in 2008 and has transformed treatment of adult anxiety disorders and depression in England. Over 900,000 people now access IAPT services each year, and the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health committed to expanding services further, alongside improving quality.
The data collected by NHS Digital will be used to measure the success of the Adult Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme.
Legal basis
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 254(1), (3) and (6) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
This Direction was replaced by the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Directions 2021 on 7 January 2021.
