General practice forward view data collection Directions 2017
Directions given by NHS England requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system for the collection of information to be known as the general practice forward view data collection information system.
This Direction and associated documents make reference to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
In accordance with the Health and Care Act 2022 and the Health and Care Act 2022 (Commencement No. 2 and Transitional and Saving Provision) Regulations 2022, as of 1 July 2022, CCGs are abolished and their statutory obligations will be managed by Integrated Care Boards.
These obligations include all continuing requirements, including those to submit data to NHS Digital as set out in this Direction and associated documents.
Purpose
In April 2016, the General Practice Forward View (GPFV) set out NHS England's approach to strengthening general practice. This collection in areas such as online consultations, care co-ordination and access to general practice will support the monitoring of progress in implementation and the impact on patients.
Legal basis
Sections 254(1), (3) and (6) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
The Directions came into force on 29 August 2017.
