Safeguarding Case Review Tracker Directions 2021
Directions given by NHS England requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate information to to provide a Safeguarding Case Review Tracker.
This Direction and associated documents make reference to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
In accordance with the Health and Care Act 2022 and the Health and Care Act 2022 (Commencement No. 2 and Transitional and Saving Provision) Regulations 2022, as of 1 July 2022, CCGs are abolished and their statutory obligations will be managed by Integrated Care Boards.
These obligations include all continuing requirements, including those to submit data to NHS Digital as set out in this Direction and associated documents.
Purpose
The purpose of this Direction is to provide a Safeguarding Case Review Tracker that will enable the collection and analysis of information about Serious Incidents that have resulted from safeguarding failures. The data will be submitted into the Safeguarding Case Review Tracker by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in England and CCGs will be able to identify, track, report and monitor the number of Serious Incidents that have occurred due to a safeguarding failure, and to record and capture lessons and outcomes from safeguarding reviews.
Legal basis
Sections 254(1), (3) and (6), section 260(2)(d), section 261(2)(e), section 261(2)(e),and section 304(9), (10) and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
The Directions came into force on 2 June 2021.
