The 100,000 Genomes project Direction 2016
A Direction given by the Secretary of State for Health requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate an informatics support service for the 100,000 genomes project.
Purpose
To host an information system established by Genomics England to support the collection and storage of consented participant information for Genomics England provided by the NHS Genomics Medicine Centres (GMCs). To link such data to other data sets held by NHS Digital and return identified clinical reports to GMCs, and then to disseminate that information to authorised recipients at Genomics England.
Legal basis
Under sections 254 (1), 260(2), 261(2)(b)(ii) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
This Direction came into force on 8 March 2016.
