Health and Social Care Information Centre (Immigration Health Charge) Directions 2021
A Direction given by the Secretary of State for Health requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate a system to be known as the Immigration Health Charge Information System.
Purpose
The Secretary of State directs HSCIC (NHS Digital) to establish and operate a system for the collection and analysis of basic demographic information and health surcharge status from the Secretary of State for the Home Department in order to recognise those individuals that have paid the surcharge, or are exempt from, or subject to a waiver from paying the surcharge.
Legal basis
Under section 254(1), 254(2)(b) and (6), 260(2)(d), 261(3), and 304(9), (10) and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
The Health and Social Care Information Centre (Immigration Health Charge) Directions 2015) issued by the Secretary of State on 27 March 2015 are revoked.
This Direction came into force 26 March 2021.
