Local stop smoking services dataset Direction 2017

A Direction given by the Secretary of State for Health requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate an informatics system for the collection of data from local stop smoking services.

Purpose

To support the Secretary of State for Health's commitment to reduce smoking and to demonstrate the success of local stop smoking services, and to populate local and regional tobacco datasets.

Legal basis

Sections 254(1), (6), 260, 261 and 304(9), (10) and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012.

NHS Digital must have regard to and comply with the Directions to NHS Digital to process Type 2 objections.

The Direction came into force on 1 March 2017.
