National Disease Registries Directions 2021
Directions given by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to support the transfer of responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the National Disease Registration Service.
Purpose
The purpose of these Directions is to support the transfer of responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the National Disease Registration Service, which comprises the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS) and the National Congenital Anomaly and Rare Disease Registration Service (NCARDRS), collectively the National Disease Registries, from Public Health England to NHS Digital as part of the closure of Public Health England and transfer of its functions.
Legal basis
Sections 254(1) and 254(6) of the 2012 Health and Social Care Act (the 2012 Act). These Directions come into force on 1 October 2021.
