Statements of fitness for work Directions 2015
Directions given by the Secretary of State for Health requiring NHS Digital to establish and operate an information system known as Statement of Fitness for Work Information System.
Purpose
To improve the monitoring of public health and commissioning and quality of health services.
The purpose of the Statements of Fitness for work (amendment) Directions 2022 are to collect an additional data item due to legislative changes and to make other amendments to the original directions including amendments to reflect these legislative changes.
Legal basis
Sections 254(1) and (6), 260(2)(d), 261(3), 274(2) and 304(9), (10) and (12) of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and Regulation 32 of the National Institute for Health and Social Care Excellence (Constitution and Functions) and the Health and Social Care Information Centre (Functions) Regulations 2013.
Type 1 objections must be upheld - NHS Digital must not collect Statement of Fitness for Work information relating to a patient who has requested that person identifiable information relating to him or her must not be released from the GP Practice.
The Directions came into force on 28 October 2015.
The Statements of Fitness for work (amendment) Directions 2022 are dated 18 October 2022.
