Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Enhanced Dataset: overview of 2024 consultation
Find out about the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Enhanced Dataset consultation.
Introduction
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has commissioned NHS England to carry out a review of the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Enhanced Dataset to ensure it is still fit for purpose, the information is provided in a simple and sensitive manner, and to improve the completeness and quality of the data.
Background
The FGM Enhanced Dataset (FGMED) collects data on FGM related attendances in healthcare settings, including acute hospitals, mental health services and GP practices. It supports the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) FGM Prevention Programme by presenting a greater understanding of the extent and issue of FGM identified by the NHS in England.
NHS England is commissioned by DHSC to collect data for the FGM Enhanced Dataset and publish quarterly official statistics reports.
Have your say
We would be grateful if you could complete the FGM consultation questionnaire on the proposals. The results from this survey will inform changes to the FGM Enhanced Dataset.
The deadline to provide your responses is Wednesday 10 April 2024.
Wider consultation on changes to statistical outputs
In addition to this consultation on changes to the FGM Enhanced Dataset, there is a wider consultation about possible changes to health and social care statistical outputs.
For the FGM publication, NHS England proposes to release quarterly data in the existing dashboard and open data CSV file, but without the commentary that is currently provided. The annual publication would remain unchanged under this proposal.
Find out more, including how to provide your views.
The deadline to provide your responses is Tuesday 5 March 2024.
