Dental Working Patterns Survey: GDPR information
Summary
Why and how we process your data in the Dental Working Patterns Survey, and your rights.
| Controller | NHS England (in relation to processing the personal data) and the Department of Health and Social Care (in relation to determining the purpose for processing the data through the issuing of a Direction to NHS England). |
| How we use the information (processing activities) | The Dental Working Patterns Survey is an important source of information for the Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration (DDRB) on dental working patterns (meaning, weekly hours of work, the proportion of time spent on NHS and on private work and also the proportions of clinical and non-clinical work) as well as motivation and morale levels. Survey responses are analysed in accordance with a specification agreed with the Dental Working Group and summary, weighted, aggregate figures are produced for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland and published as Official Statistics in the Dental Working Hours report. GDC Number is requested at the start of the survey to allow NHS England to link data subjects' responses to the dental workforce dataset. This dataset is then shared with HMRC who match this data with self-assessment tax returns for dentists and calculates weighted, aggregate estimates of earnings and expenses in accordance with a specification agreed with the Dental Working Group. The information gathered from the survey provides additional valuable insight into earnings by working hours, business arrangement and time spent on NHS dentistry, which is used by the commissioners of the survey as well as by DDRB. |
