Access to crisis care via NHS 111 - Mental Health, March 2025

Official statistics in development

Changes to the resubmission process for Access to Crisis Care via NHS 111 – Mental Health:

Currently providers are able to make a resubmission (or new submissions for newly onboarded providers) to this collection for April 2024 data until the latest data which is then flowed into the most recent publication PBI dashboard updates. We will be finalising April '24 - March '25 data and closing the submission window for these months in May with the last opportunity to submit data for these months being Friday 30th May 2025. Once this submission window has closed, we will refresh all the data csv files on the publication pages to reflect the most recent and finalised data for each month and the publication PBI dashboard will be updated.

Going forward we will be adopting a rolling 3-month resubmission process whereby providers have the opportunity to correct or resubmit data with a submission window that will be open for three months. For example:

•         NHS111-MH-April-2025 data can be submitted from the 01st May up until the 31st July

•         NHS111-MH-May-2025 data can be submitted from the 02nd June up until the 29th August

•         NHS111-MH-June-2025 data can be submitted from the 01st July up until the 30th September and so on.

Summary

This publication introduces a newly established data collection for demand and call handling data items related to accessing crisis care via the NHS111 'select MH option'. This data will provide important insights into how accessible the crisis care system is helping to identify any gaps or inefficiencies. Additionally, the data will be used to support demand and capacity planning across services enabling better resource allocation and service provision. Benchmarking data will also be made available allowing providers to compare their performance and identify areas for improvement. This information will be invaluable for both operational decision making and strategic planning across the crisis care system.

Highlights

Experimental Statistics

These statistics are classified as ‘Experimental’ and should be used with caution. Experimental statistics are new official statistics undergoing evaluation. They are published in order to involve users and stakeholders in their development and as a means to build in quality at an early stage. More information about Experimental statistics can be found here.

The data presented in this publication is as it has been submitted by providers. Any values inputted incorrectly have not been retrospectively changed. This may cause some values to not add up to the submitted totals. We will be working with providers to improve the quality of the data submitted. Please use this data with caution.
