Independent Healthcare Provider Workforce Statistics - September 2020, Experimental

Experimental statistics, Official statistics in development

Summary

These experimental statistics relate to the workforce directly employed in a range of Independent Healthcare Provider (IHP) organisations in England as at 30 September and 31 March from 30 September 2015.

The information provided for the IHP Workforce does not represent the entire workforce employed across the whole of this sector and does not only show the staff providing NHS commissioned services.

Data has been published at an individual organisation level from 31 March 2019. For those IHPs whose data is extracted from the Electronic Staff Record (ESR), individual organisations have been identified, however, the identity of IHPs who have submitted data directly via the workforce Minimum Data Set Collection Vehicle (wMDSCV) have not been revealed as per the current agreement with data submitters. However, the same anonymised identifiers have been used for organisations who appear in the data across multiple periods.

Publishing data in this way begins to give a more detailed breakdown of the data NHS Digital holds to increase its utility.

After consultation with individual organisations who submitted data via the wMDSCV as at 30 September 2019, it became possible to reveal a list of submitters, although it is still not possible to identify these individual organisations in the data.
