Euroking maternity information system: safety alert

A National Patient Safety Alert was issued in 2023 by the NHS England National Patient Safety Team about identified safety risks with the Euroking maternity information IT system. The risks related to technical issues with the system, used by some NHS trusts, which could lead to inaccurate clinical records in some circumstances. Full details of the alert and the identified risks can be found at:

Where NHS England identifies any impacts of these technical issues on Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) submissions and the metrics published in this series, relevant information will be made available on this page.

If you have any questions about the impact of these issues or any information about them, please contact us at [email protected] quoting ‘MSDS: Euroking Alert’ in the title.

Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS): this is a patient-level data set that captures information about activity carried out by Maternity Services relating to a mother and baby(s), from the point of the first booking appointment until mother and baby(s) are discharged from maternity services. This is a secondary uses data set, which re-uses clinical and operational data for purposes other than direct patient care.
