Patients undergoing elective inpatient surgery for four common elective procedures (hip and knee replacement, varicose vein surgery and groin hernia surgery) funded by the English NHS are asked to complete questionnaires before and after their operations to assess improvement in health as perceived by the patients themselves. This publication is for Finalised Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in England for Groin Hernia and Varicose Vein Procedures - April 2017 to September 2017.
It is important to note that as the finalised data presented for groin hernia and varicose vein procedures between April to September 2017 this relates only to part of the typical reporting year period. Figures presented should not be assumed to be representative of the full 2017-18 period as this introduces scope for possible issues such as seasonality to influence the data. As a result comparisons to prior finalised data relating to information captured within a full typical collection year have not been made within the associated Official Statistics report.
