Patients undergoing elective inpatient surgery for four common elective procedures (hip and knee replacement, varicose vein surgery and groin hernia surgery) funded by the English NHS are asked to complete questionnaires before and after their operations to assess improvement in health as perceived by the patients themselves.
This publication contains provisional results for 2011-12 (hospital episode started / pre-operative questionnaire completed between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2012). Provisional results for 2012-13 are also published - find out more. Provisional headline figures are updated monthly with full data updates quarterly, in February, May, August and November.
