2021 LSOAs
There are some known issues with the mapping of postcode data to the 2021 LSOAs which means that some patients cannot be allocated to an LSOA. This issue affects one or more patients at a high percentage of GP practices and undermines the utility of the 2021 LSOA data . While work is ongoing to resolve these issues, and in response to requests from users, we are reinstating the LSOA breakdowns using the 2011 data as the coverage is appreciably better. Until there is an appropriate resolution to the mapping issues, we expect to release a quarterly LSOA file using 2011 mappings.

Summary
Data for this publication are extracted each month as a snapshot in time from the Primary Care Registration database within the PDS (Personal Demographics Service) system. This release is an accurate snapshot as at 1 October 2025.
Figures are reported by gender and single year of age (SYOA) and five-year age bands (up to age 95+) at GP Practice, Primary Care Network (PCN), Sub Integrated Care Board Location (SICBL), Integrated Care Board (ICB) and NHS England Commissioning Region levels. In addition, organisational mapping data is available to derive PCN, SICBL, ICB, and Commissioning Region for each GP practice and is updated each month to give relevant organisational mapping.
Quarterly publications in January, April, July and October will include Lower Layer Super Output Area (LSOA) populations.
