Accessing NHS shortcodes and HSCIC email address

If you are an NHS England employee or a partner working closely on specific NHS England digital projects, you will be assigned a specific NHS England shortcode, (for example, ABCD1) and HSCIC email account. These are typically used for accessing the following API platform internal systems:

• Microsoft Teams
• Mural
• Splunk
• AWS
• Azure AD groups
• External Resource Group (ERG)

To access NHS England systems, you need the following:

• NHS shortcode and HSCIC email address ([email protected])

Some systems such as VDI will need to be accessed with your shortcode. This refers to the first part of your hscic email. 

For example:

User name: David Smith
Hscic email: [email protected]
Shortcode: DASM1

All NHS England employees working on digital projects are given a shortcode when you onboard to NHS England. The process for getting a shortcode for non-NHSE employees requires an External Resource Group to create one. 

All non-NHS England employees will need an NHS England permanent employee to sponsor their shortcode requests. If an NHS England sponsor can't be found, then contact us.

Create External Resource Group (ERG) by NHS England programme sponsor

If a new ERG is required, a permanent NHS England employee can raise a request via the external resource page. This request should be raised by the programme sponsor. 

If required, the programme sponsor can contact the technical services to set up an ERG. Once completed, you be able to add/remove users via the ERG management page.  

Login to the API producer zone 

Once logged into confluence, you will be able to access the API producer zone page. 

To access our API management restricted pages (including edit access) you will need to contact us. To do this, use the ServiceNOW API Catalogue to request access to restricted pages under API platform Confluence area.
