Edit a position assignment start or end date

Step-by-step guidance on how to change position start or end dates in Care Identity Management.

Which roles can do this?

  • Registration Authority Manager
  • Registration Authority Agent (Advanced)
  • Registration Authority Agent
  • Sponsor - assignable positions only (all other positions are via request)

Change a single position's expiry date

From the Care Identity Management home page, choose 'Find an existing user'.

Enter the user's details and press Search.

Choose 'View profile' on the right of the screen.

In the lower part of the user details screen, you'll see the list of positions currently assigned to the user's smartcard. Find the position you want to remove and choose 'Edit' on the right.

Change the date to the new date you want this position to expire (you cannot change the start date). Add any extra notes you wish, and press 'Save'.

Finally you should be returned to the user details page and see a 'Position edited successfully' message.

Change multiple position expiry dates

From the user profile screen, use the tick boxes to select the positions you want to change. Then, below the list of positions, select 'Edit selected end dates'.

On the next screen the default option is to change all the positions you've selected to the same expiry date.

You're also given the option to enter different expiry dates for each selected position.

When you've made your changes and selected 'Confirm', you'll see a confirmation message.

Request a change as a sponsor

If you are logged in with a sponsor role, positions that you can change directly are controlled by your organisation. If you are able to change a position assignment's end date directly, you will follow the steps above.

If you want to edit a position that your organisation does not allow you to change directly, you will need to raise a request. When you choose to edit a position from the user's profile, you will see the 'Request edit to position dates' screen.

Enter the new end date and select the 'Request' button. You will see a confirmation message that your request has been submitted successfully.
