Care Identity Management release 7.17
Release planned for 17 March 2025.
Release summary
Care Identity Management release 7.17 goes live on 17 March 2025, subject to final testing.
This release includes:
- the introduction of passkeys as a new way to authenticate (private beta)
- the rebranding of NHSmail to NHS.net Connect
Passkeys
This release adds the registration of passkeys to Care Identity Management. Passkeys are an authentication option requiring fewer steps to log in for compatible devices.
Passkeys are available to organisations that have signed up to our private beta. Request access to the passkey private beta.

NHSmail is now NHS.net Connect
NHSmail has been rebranded as NHS.net Connect. Release 7.17 applies this rebranding to Care Identity Management and you'll now see the new name throughout the service.

Errors after the release
There is a small chance that after this release, visitors to Care Identity Management may receive a blank screen or loading error. If this happens, please try these steps:
- force a reload of the page - press Ctrl + F5 (on some computers this can be Fn + F5)
- clear your browser's cache - press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Delete
