Child Protection - Information Sharing (CP-IS) service roadmap

CP-IS has a roadmap to extend coverage and champion data sharing between agencies.

Strategy

NHS England has a statutory duty under the Children Act 2004 to have due regard for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children in the discharge of its functions.

The sharing of child protection information and health data using the CP-IS enables Local Authorities, health bodies and NHS England to meet their statutory duties under the Children Act.

In response to this, CP-IS is being made available to the following care settings that have been prioritised for system access, as attendance here is most likely to indicate an increased risk of harm to a child:

  • general practice in hours
  • child and adolescent mental health services (all four tiers)
  • sexual health: sexual assault referral centres
  • sexual health: termination of pregnancy services
  • 0-19 services: school nursing and health visitors
  • community paediatrics
  • dentistry (appointment-based dentistry including emergency dental care)

Roadmap

The project roadmap outlines crucial project stages, objectives and timelines that we are researching or planning to deliver in coming months.

Its aim is to make it easier to understand and encourage teams to work together to improve patient care and service delivery.

This roadmap was last reviewed by the team on 8 May 2024.
