Respiratory syncytial virus campaign: Cohort identification methodology

Overview

NHS England’s Vaccination programme has commissioned NHS England’s Cohorting as a Service (CaaS) to provide patient identifiable cohorts, to facilitate the identification of citizens who are eligible for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination under the Green Book chapter 27a defined clinical at-risk group criteria.

Scope

CaaS will be providing 2 cohorts:

  • Cohort 0 (initial) - aged 75 - 79 years old (up to the day before their 80th birthday) on 31st August 2024
  • Cohort 1 (ongoing) - recently turned 75 on or after 1 September 2024. Include anyone who is 75 years old (for example, up to the day before their 76th birthday) at the time that the cohort is run

The RSV vaccination campaign has recently been approved. The vaccination programme is expected it to be an ongoing/rolling campaign so there is no end date currently forecast.
