How NHS trusts register for Digital Staff Passport
The NHS Digital Staff Passport (NHS DSP) enables NHS employees to digitally transfer their employment, education and training, and occupational health information between NHS trusts, to support efficient workforce movement.
Using the system approach
Implementation of the NHS Digital Staff Passport is encouraged in a system approach.
This may be defined as:
- full Integrated Care Systems (ICS), with all NHS trusts demonstrating demand and planning to use the NHS Digital Staff Passport as business as usual
- part ICS, with several NHS trusts implementing initially, followed by other NHS trusts as demand is demonstrated
- network based, with implementation crossing ICS boundaries to meet the demand of a local or regional network, such as clinical or operational
The video below explains these in more detail.
How do NHS trusts register?
First, check whether the NHS trust is already registered with the service.
If the trust is not registered
Integrated Care Board (ICB) workforce leads are coordinating implementation by NHS trusts within ICSs.
The NHS trust’s Human Resource Director or Chief People Officer will know who their ICB workforce lead is, so can make direct contact with them.
The ICB workforce lead will support discussions between the Human Resource Directors and/or Chief People Officers of the NHS trusts in the ICS to agree an implementation approach for the NHS DSP.
If your NHS trust or ICB workforce lead have queries about implementation, please email [email protected]
