Check whether your computer is correctly configured for the NHS e-Referral Service

Find out if your computer and browser are correctly configured for use with the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS)

Local IT Teams can check if an individual’s computer and browser are configured for use with the e-RS application by using the configuration check page.

Supported operating systems and browsers

Details of the browsers and operating systems which are supported, and not supported, by e-RS is available on the warrantied environment specification (WES).

About the configuration check report

If the user’s operating system and browser combination is not supported:

  • the Troubleshoot incorrect configurations page should be reviewed for further support on the next steps to be taken
  • local IT support teams should advise the user on how to proceed
  • consideration should be given to the configuration the organisation has chosen to adopt
  • options may include using a different browser or installing software

Identity Agent

Before continuing with the configuration, local IT support teams should check the user has:

  • confirmed this is the computer and browser they wish to use with e-RS

  • already successfully logged in to the Identity Agent by entering their smartcard and PIN

Note: If a user cannot successfully log in to the Identity Agent, the configuration check will give inaccurate results.

Any issues reported by the Identity Agent should be diagnosed using the Troubleshooting Advice (HSCN access required to access this link).
