Apply for an off-infrastructure delegation or pointer record

Use this form to begin the application process for a new off-infrastructure delegation or pointer record with an off-infrastructure target.

Before you start

You will need to have your Organisation Data Service (ODS) code ready before completing the form.

This is part of a multi stage process. To understand the wider process refer to the flowchart.

An off-infrastructure delegation exists where an NS record is created to delegate control of a sub-domain of nhs.uk to a DNS service outside of the HSCN DNS service. Refer to the standards and policies relating to off-infrastructure delegation of sub-domains.

A record with an off-infrastructure target exists where a records’ resource record data (RData) points to a target that is hosted on a DNS service outside of the HSCN DNS service. These are typically CNAME, MX, SRV and PTR, although other record types could also include a target component (such as CAA, DNAME, DS, URI and TXT).  Refer to the standards and policies relating to records with an off-infrastructure target

Refer to HSCN domain naming standards and policies for a description of the domain name administrator, technical administrator roles.

You will need to read and confirm that in requesting this service, you will comply with the HSCN domain naming standards and policies, Guidance for domain name administrators and technical contacts, and adhere to the schedule of activities for domain name administrators and technical contacts. You may be asked for additional information to support your request.
