Current plans

Shutdown ERSDEP and ERSDEV at Weekends and Overnight

NHS England currently provides 24 hours access to the ERDDEP and ERSDEV environments. after analysing usage of the environments, it has been observed that the environments are not being used after 8PM and at the weekends. Therefore it has been proposed that these environments will be shutdown between 20:00 and 06:00 on weekdays and all day at the weekends as a cost saving measure. It is proposed to start this process from week commencing 5 February 2024. if you have feedback on this proposal, please email the contact below.

Deprecating the Opentest environment.

After extensive discussions, involving multiple stakeholders, NHS England have decided to deprecate the Opentest environment. From 1 January 2024 the Opentest environment will no long be available. There are several reasons why the environment is to be deprecated:

  • all the functionality of the Opentest environment, including access from the internet, is available in the standard Path to Live Spine environments
  • the Opentest environment consists of ageing infrastructure that will be difficult to replace or repair
  • the Opentest environment doesn't support many NHS England services such as CIS or e-RS or recent NHS England services , such as APIM

Customers in Opentest should begin to consider testing in alternative environments, especially the Integration environment that offers full support for all services
