Data Sharing Agreement expiry guide

Guidance on preparing for the expiry of your Data Sharing Agreement (DSA).

Getting ready for expiry

We remind you by email that you are coming to the end of your Data Sharing Agreement (DSA).

Once your DSA expires you will no longer be able to access any data in the Secure Data Environment (SDE) or access requested outputs. It is essential for the team working on the SDE to be sufficiently prepared to output the data finding data or findings before this date.

You can view your expiry date within DARS online. As you approach your expiry date you should:

  • decide if you need to extend or make amendments to the DSA
  • understand what results or code could be important for future reference regarding your project and consider any challenges to your findings
  • use the Safe Output Service to extract any results or code allowing enough time to get your results within our Service Level Agreement for output results as well as the number of requests you will need to make

Deciding not to extend the expiry date

If you decide not to apply for a new DSA, your current DSA will be closed on the expiry date.

You will have no legal right to access data in the SDE after the expiry date and access for your users under this agreement will be removed on that date. Anyone with an activated account will be deactivated by the SDE service team including user managers.

Renewing, extending or amending your DSA

If you want to continue accessing the data in the SDE sign into the DARS online service and select the option to manage your DSA.

If you have any questions on renewing, amending or extending your DSA, contact us at [email protected] If you have questions on how closure will work within the SDE contact us at [email protected]
