Standard 5 Team Management and Development
This standard aims to ensure that everyone working for the training team has the:
- Opportunity to undertake continuous professional development
- Right level of subject matter knowledge and skills for the role they undertake
- Correct skills for designing, delivering, assessing and evaluating training solutions.
This standard also applies to contracted or seconded facilitators.
Training Qualifications
Attaining a qualification reinforces the facilitator's credibility to design and deliver training and also offers the opportunity to learn additional skills.
Protected learning time for facilitators
Dedicated time should be allocated to a facilitator to carry out personal development activities, which can include:
- Attending courses
- Self-directed learning
- Preparing/setting up training environments for clinical or other systems
- Attending learning events
- Researching design and delivery methods e.g. testing software that could be used in the training materials development
- Using a new software application/system e.g. practicing using a new version of an office application.
