Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS) Data Quality Submission Summary Tool
The Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS) Data Quality Submission Summary Tool is designed to improve readability and understanding of the Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS) validation reports that are provided after a submission on the SDCS Cloud portal.
Validations summary generator
This validations summary generator has been updated to work with MHSDS version 6 submissions.
We have identified an issue with the previous version of the generator where codes were being matched to incorrect descriptions. This has now been resolved and the generator has been re-issued
How to use this tool
This tool is designed to improve readability and understanding of the MHSDS validation reports that are provided after a submission on the SDCS Cloud portal. The reject messages that are delivered within the validations file, and the warning messages within the data quality file, can be summarised using this tool.
Further information on these reports is available in the SDCS Cloud Data Quality Guide, which can be found at Strategic Data Collection Service in the cloud (SDCS Cloud). This guide also contains the MHSDS parent and child table relationships which will help in navigating any group-level rejections.
- Upon opening the tool, ensure you enable content if you are prompted to do so. You may see this in a horizontal yellow bar near the top of the Excel workbook described as 'Macros have been disabled'.
- Make sure formulas are set to automatic. To check this, go to the formulas tab, calculation options and select 'Automatic'.
- Copy and paste your MHSDS data validation report onto the ErrorCSV tab. Switch to the main tab and click the create error list button. You should then be presented with a summarised count and description of the messages from your file.
- If desired select a policy area (area of care) from the drop-down menu, this will filter the rejections and warnings in the summary table, so only MHSDS fields related to the selected policy area are shown..
This tool will describe messages from MHSDS version 5.0. As new versions of the MHSDS dataset are released, this tool will be updated; please check you have the latest version of the tool before use.
If you have any issues with the tool please try to download the latest version again. If the problem persists, please contact [email protected].
