Age-standardised incidence rates varied by gender over the decade

The age-standardised cancer incidence rate for all cancers for males has increased from 683 per 100,000 people in 2010 to 689 per 100,000 people in 2019 with a peak of 715 per 100,000 people in 2013. Reflecting the fall in the numbers of registered cancers diagnosed, the age-standardised cancer incidence rate for males in 2020 is 14% lower than in 2019 at 590 per 100,000 people.

The age-standardised cancer incidence rate for all cancers for females has increased from 534 per 100,000 people in 2010 to 556 per 100,000 people in 2019 with a peak of 559 per 100,000 people in 2013. Reflecting the fall in the numbers of registered cancers diagnosed, the age-standardised cancer incidence rate for females in 2020 is 12% lower than in 2019 at 488 per 100,000 people.
