Average value of an outstanding DPA
The average value of an outstanding DPA at 31st March 2021 in England was £37,000.
This is more than double the average amount of a new DPA (£18,000). As seen in the previous ‘Duration of concluded DPAs by the reason’ chart almost a half (41.2%) of all DPAs are recovered within the first 12 months and so care costs for new DPAs are less likely to accrue to the same extent as outstanding DPAs.
The following chart shows the variation in average values of outstanding DPAs by region; from £25,000 in North West to £59,000 in London.
