Recovered DPAs
£104.0 million was fully recovered from DPAs that concluded during 2021-22, which related to 2,685 DPAs.
Regionally, the South East reported the highest number (510) of concluded DPAs that were fully recovered, which is 18.9% of all DPAs that were fully recovered in England.
The London region reported the lowest number (115) fully recovered DPAs, amounting to 4.3% of the England total.

Nationally, there were 2,685 recovered DPAs during 2021-22. However, when analysed by the reason for the DPA ending the total was 2,720. This was a 58.3 / 41.7% split by reason for conclusion, with 1,585 concluding due to death of the holder and 1,135 concluding during the lifetime of the holder.
This varies regionally, with the South West region having the lowest (46.8%) and West Midlands having the highest proportion (73.4%) concluding due to the death of the holder.

For the 1,585 DPAs that concluded due to the death of the holder, 41.2% (655) had been in place for more than 36 months.
Of the 1,135 DPAs that concluded during the lifetime of the holder, 22.7% (260) had been in place for six months or less.
Whilst overall, 58.3% of DPAs conclude due to the death of the holder, the longer the duration of the DPA, the higher this proportion is (32.8% due to death in 6 months or less, increasing to 80.8% concluding due to death after 36 months).

The total value written-off was £1.1 million from 70 DPAs that concluded during 2021-22.
