Publication, Part of [MI] National Obesity Audit
National Obesity Audit, January 2025 - March 2025 [Management Information]
Other reports and statistics
Summary
The National Obesity Audit (NOA) publication series presents a developing set of nationally agreed measures, with the overarching aim to provide a comprehensive picture of activity, access to services and health outcomes of patients using weight management services (WMS) across England. This will allow providers to track, benchmark and improve the quality of these services in future.
This release includes data from both Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) for Tier 4 WMS, and the Community Services Data Set (CSDS) for Tier 2 and Tier 3 WMS. More information about WMS tiers can be found on the NOA homepage (see Related Links).
Disruption relating to the coronavirus illness (COVID-19) would seem to have affected the quality and coverage of some of our statistics, such as an increase in non-submissions for some datasets. We have also seen some different patterns in the submitted data. For example, fewer patients have been admitted to and discharged from hospital. Therefore, data should be interpreted with care over the COVID-19 period.

The interactive dashboard provides both annual and quarterly time series data. Please note that the dashboard will always show the most recent data available and therefore may contain data not included in this publication. The supporting Excel files containing the most recent data can be accessed via the latest publication.
Please note, historic providers have been updated to the latest provider successors as of May 2025. This has resulted in small changes to figures for some providers in historic quarterly data.
Some similar measures sourced from HES data are published in NHS England's Statistics on Public Health (SoPH) publication series (see Related Links).
Community Services Data Set (CSDS)
Data on WMS submitted to CSDS. This has been included as a series of developing data quality metrics (split by tiers) to help understand where there are gaps in coverage (non-submission) and where submitted data needs to improve before we start publishing any measures around activity, access and wait times and outcomes.
The interactive dashboard is primarily aimed at those who submit this data so they can address any data quality issues in future submissions. The data available in this release is outlined below. See the metadata file in the Resources Section for a full list of published measures. All published CSDS data for this publication is final data.
