Summary

This statistical release is the annual report on the NHS Talking Therapies programme from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025. NHS Talking Therapies is run by the NHS in England and offers NICE-approved therapies for treating people with anxiety or depression.

The publication contains analyses on activity, waiting times and outcomes such as recovery in 2024-25. In addition, the report covers a range of demographic analyses including outcomes for patients of different ages, ethnic group and separately for ex-British Armed Forces personnel.

This report also contains additional analysis for therapy-based outcomes in NHS Talking Therapies services.

Down 3.8% from 1.26 million in 2023-24

8.4 sessions of treatment on average

up from 8.2 sessions in 2023-24

670,419 referrals completed course of treatment

down 0.2% from 671,648 completing course of treatment in 2023-24

50.5% referrals moved to recovery

up 0.4 percentage points from 50.1% in 2023-24

500,034 sessions of Internet Enabled Therapy were recorded

down 5.7% from 530,229 sessions of Internet Enabled Therapy in 2023-24

49,117 referrals finished a course of treatment having received employment support
