Summary
This statistical release makes available the most recent NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression monthly data, including activity, waiting times, and outcomes such as recovery.
NHS Talking Therapies is run by the NHS in England and offers NICE-approved therapies for treating people with depression or anxiety. This release also includes statistics about NHS Talking Therapies employment advisor services.

New report (published 10/09/2024)
As part of the NHS Talking Therapies Monthly Statistics Including Employment Advisors, Performance June 2024 and Quarter 1 2024/25 publication, a new Quarterly Report on Employment Advisor NHS Talking Therapies Services has been published. This report describes patients employment status and benefit status at the start and end of treatment after undertaking in NHS Talking Therapies, for anxiety and depression, and/or Employment Support.
These reports have been backdated to April 2022 and are available for download in the Resources section of the NHS Talking Therapies Monthly Statistics Including Employment Advisors, Performance June 2024 and Quarter 1 2024/25 publication. This report will form part of the quarterly release of the NHS Talking Therapies Monthly Statistics Including Employment Advisors publication series going forward.

In July 2024 there were:
151,365 referrals to NHS Talking Therapies
90.7% of referrals accessing NHS Talking Therapies within 6 weeks
108,738 referrals accessing NHS Talking Therapies
8.2 sessions of treatment on average per referral
62,036 referrals completed a course of treatment
50.4% referrals moved to recovery
66.9% of referrals finishing a course of treatment showed reliable improvement
54,556 Internet Enabled Therapy sessions took place
24,136 referrals with an integrated care contact
6,496 referrals attended an initial employment support appointment
Please note that these numbers reflect activity in the month and are not all based on the same group of referrals.
The proportion of referrals starting treatment within 6 weeks, mean treatment session, and the recovery rate are based on referrals completing a course of NHS Talking Therapies treatment in the month.
