Forthcoming changes

New functionality recently introduced to the National Workforce Reporting Service (NWRS) allows PCNs to tell us whether their Occupational Therapists are Advanced Practitioners and whether they are Mental Health Practitioners. Previously, only the Advanced Practitioner option was available.

Consequently, in the Excel bulletin tables from the release of PCN workforce statistics relating to 31 March 2024, the existing roles (Occupational Therapists and Advanced Occupational Therapist Practitioners ) will be split into into the following:

  • Occupational Therapists - (Non-mental Health Practitioners)
  • Occupational Therapists - (Mental Health Practitioners)
  • Advanced Occupational Therapist Practitioners - (Non-mental Health Practitioners)
  • Advanced Occupational Therapist Practitioners - (Mental Health Practitioners)

Where these members of staff are mental health practitioners, the DETAILED_STAFF_ROLE field of the accompanying CSV will denote whether they provide mental health care for adults or for children and young people.
