The Primary Care Workforce Quarterly Update brings together staff working in general practice with those working in Primary Care Networks as collected by the NWRS. Where appropriate and possible, additional data sources are included for the different staff groups in order to provide as full picture as possible of the staff working in these groups. This series will be updated once per quarter for specified staff groups as data becomes available during the reporting period, as outlined in the schedule below for the 2024-25 reporting year.
This statistics present two different measures of full-time equivalent (FTE) primary care workforce statistics –
1. Primary Care Workforce FTE for all four staff groups as reported through the National Workforce Reporting Service (NWRS only),
2. An enhanced view of the direct patient care (DPC) staff group only, calculated by combining data from the National Workforce Reporting Service (NWRS) and data from the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) to provide as full picture as possible of the staff working in this group. The full methodology used to generate the statistics can be found on the Methodology page of each release.
