Smoking patterns among adults
Adult smoking habits in the UK Statistical bulletins provide data on cigarette smoking habits among adults in the UK, including:
- the proportion of people who smoke
- demographic breakdowns
- changes over time
- use of e-cigarettes
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) health statistics database provides international comparisons of daily smoking prevalence.
Statistics on Women’s Smoking Status at Time of Delivery (SATOD) provides information on the prevalence of smoking among pregnant women.
The Health Survey for England provides data on adult health-related behaviours including smoking.
Statistics on NHS Stop Smoking Services in England reports provide data on attempts to quit smoking using NHS Stop Smoking Services.
Smoking patterns among young people
Smoking, Drinking and Drug Use among Young People in England reports provide information on cigarette smoking patterns among young people including:
- the proportion of young people who smoke including demographic breakdowns and changes over time
- where young people get their cigarettes and family knowledge of their smoking
- smoking behaviours of families and friends and exposure to second-hand smoke
- use of e-cigarettes
