Women known to be smokers at time of delivery

Percentage known to be smokers by year

Quarterly comparison

For SATOD v2, 4.7% of pregnant women were known to be smokers at the time of delivery in quarter 1 of 2025-26. This compares with 5.1% of pregnant women from quarter 4 of 2024-25 (using SATOD v2 data available in the historical data tab of the Excel file). We advise not to make any direct comparisons using data from SATOD v1.

The chart below shows a time series for SATOD v1 to the end of 2024-25 as this is the period where SATOD v1 was the primary source of data for SATOD.  From Q1 2025-26 SATOD v2 figures are used.
