Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS) work in partnership to provide high quality and impactful intelligence to support in improving cancer service delivery and outcomes for patients.

Background

In 2013 CRUK and NCRAS established a partnership to conduct analysis that both organisations see as a priority. This includes but is not limited to:

  • understanding the cancer pathway better and timeliness of patients receiving treatment
  • increasing our understanding of survival in cancer patients
  • analysing cancer outcomes from diagnosis through treatment
  • investigating inequalities across the cancer pathway

Outputs

The partnership has contributed to many outputs over the years, with some highlighted and linked to below.

Latest publication - 1- and 5- year conditional survival

The partnership team have calculated conditional 1- and 5- year survival estimates for patients diagnosed in England between 2015 and 2019. This analysis calculates the survival of patients who have already survived their diagnosis for at least 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Breakdowns are presented for 14 cancer sites and additionally by gender, stage, age and deprivation quintile. Read the full report on the CRUK website
