Health profiles

Health profiles provide a rich source of health data that is available in the public domain. The profiles and indicators they provide are used to support initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of the population, and to reduce inequalities.

The National Disease Registration Service supports the Atlas of Variation for England by providing cancer data to the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). NDRS provided data on eye cancer for the 2021 Atlas of variation in risk factors and healthcare for vision in England publication.

The National Disease Registration Service supports the CCG Outcome Indicator Set by providing counts and percentages at a CCG level to the population health, clinical audit, and specialist care team In the NHS for:

1. Record of stage of cancer at diagnosis
2. Percentage of cancers detected at stage 1 and 2
3. Record of lung cancer stage at decision to treat

The National Disease Registration Service supports the Local Alcohol Profiles for England by providing cancer data to the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities at DHSC to determine the rates of alcohol-related cancers.

The National Disease Registration Service supports the Local Health tool by providing counts and standardised incidence ratios for all, breast, lung, colorectal and prostates cancers in England at a ward, upper tier local authority and lower tier local authority level, to the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities at DHSC.

The National Disease Registration Service supports the Local Tobacco Control Profiles by providing cancer registration rates for lung, oral and oesophageal cancers in England and sub-national level to the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities at DHSC.
