Completing a face-to-face identity check
How to respond when a new Digital Staff Passport user opts to have their identity checked in person.
Log in to the Digital Staff Passport employer's portal using your email address and password.
Note: for extra security, multi-factor authentication (MFA) has been added to the Digital Staff Passport login process. Read our user guide on logging in with MFA.
To view any outstanding identity check appointments, select 'View' in the relevant box to the right of ‘Identity and access’
All staff requiring an appointment will be shown, along with additional details about the staff member. Click on the staff member’s name to review their details.
At the bottom of the page, select 'Review identity details'.
Note: there is the option to select 'Decline access' where an identity cannot be confirmed or where you might have been informed that the staff member is no longer due to start at your organisation.
You will need to select the staff member's employment type on the next screen. You can also enter their job role. When you're ready, select 'Continue'.
The next page will show some instructions for the face-to-face appointment. You'll need to contact the staff member to organise the face-to-face meeting.
You'll now need to contact the staff member to organise the face-to-face meeting. Return to these instructions when the meeting has taken place.
After the appointment
Once the appointment has taken place, return to the portal and continue the process. Select 'Yes, I want to confirm their identity' and then 'Continue'.
Note: you also have the option to not confirm an identity and decline access if there are any concerns or the staff member will not be joining.
Complete the details to create an identity credential for the staff member, and select 'Continue'. The information you'll need can be found in the staff member’s documents, which you will have verified during their identity check appointment.
A list of completed details will be shown. To confirm the identity and create an identity credential, select 'Yes, I confirm their identity and I want to provide an NHS identity credential', and then 'Continue'.
You'll then see a message confirming that the process is complete and the identity credential has been created.
