Setting up your digital identity
How an NHS staff member can use a government-approved online digital identity check to prove who they are, without needing a face-to-face appointment with a recruitment team.
What is a digital identity?
A digital identity is an online proof of identity. An NHS staff member can use their digital identity to prove who they are using an app on their smartphone, instead of via a face-to-face appointment.
Approved providers
Only Identity Service Providers (IDSPs) certified with the UK government’s digital identity and attributes trust framework can be used to complete digital identity verification.
The NHS Digital Staff Passport is currently working with the following IDSPs:
- Yoti
- Post Office EasyID
Download the app to your smartphone
Each app is available for both Apple and Android devices.
Get Yoti from:
- the Apple App Store
- the Google Play Store
Get Post Office EasyID from:
- the Apple App Store
- the Google Play Store
How to create your digital identity
Note: the steps to create your digital identity are the same in both Yoti and Post Office EasyID. We have used screenshots from Yoti for this guidance.
Open the app and select the option to create your new digital identity.
Enter your mobile number so the app can verify your device.
Choose a 5-digit PIN that you'll use to log in to the app.
You'll be asked to use your phone's camera to capture a scan of your face.
