Sharing credentials requested by your current trust

Guidance for staff who have received an email or SMS notification asking them to share credentials with their current employer.

If a trust requests credentials from you, you'll receive an email or SMS.

The login link in the email or SMS will take you to your NHS Digital Staff Passport employee portal. Select 'Login'.

On your employee portal home page, you'll see a message explaining that your trust has requested credentials from you. Select the link to ‘Share credentials’.

You'll see a list of credentials that you can share. The credential(s) your employer has requested will be ticked.

Check you have this credential in your Microsoft Authenticator app (under 'Verified IDs'). If you do, select ‘Continue’ at the bottom of the page to confirm you want to share the credential(s).

Scan the QR code to share your credentials with your Microsoft Authenticator app.

In your Microsoft Authenticator app, you'll be prompted to share the relevant credential.

When you've shared the credential, the web page will refresh to confirm the share. If you’re on mobile, go back to the mobile browser to see the confirmation.

You will also receive an email and SMS confirmation of credential(s) shared.

What happens next

Your employer will receive the credential(s) shared and contact you if you need to provide more information.
