How to share your credentials with your existing employer as a staff member using the Digital Staff Passport service.

Log in to your trust's Digital Staff Passport employee self-service portal.

Note: you will need to have downloaded an access key for your trust’s employee self-service portal before you log in for the first time.

You'll now see a QR code.

Scan the QR code using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone. To get to the scan function, select 'Verified IDs' in the bottom-right of the screen, then the scan icon in the top-right of the screen.

 

Alternatively, if you’re using your smartphone rather than a computer to complete this process, you can select the green button to connect to Microsoft Authenticator app.

You’ll then be prompted to 'Share' at the bottom of the screen.

Note: if you have more than one Access Key (login), you will need to select the correct one for the trust you are logging in to.

The Authenticator app will notify you that you can return to the previous application. When you return to your browser, the screen will refresh to show you are logged into your trust’s employee self-service portal.

Select 'Credentials'.

Scroll down the page and click on the link to 'Share credentials'.

A list of all credentials will be displayed. Choose the corresponding boxes to select credentials to be shared. When you're ready to proceed, select 'Continue'.

Note: you are only able to share credentials that you have in your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet.

You'll see a summary screen listing all credentials that you have selected to be shared. Choose 'Yes, connect to my wallet' and 'Continue' to proceed.

You'll now see another QR code.

Scan the QR code as before using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone. On a mobile browser you'll see a QR code with a green button once again.

When you return to the Digital Staff Passport employee self-service portal, you'll see a message confirming that the listed credentials have been shared with the stated trust.

Share credentials with a different trust

In the Digital Staff Passport employee self-service portal, scroll down the page and select the link to 'Go to a different organisation'.

Type in the name of the trust you want to share credentials with, and select that trust.

On the next screen you'll be asked if you already have access to the Digital Staff Passport for the organisation you have selected. If you do not have access to the trust you have selected, choose 'No'. You will need to get an access key for this organisation before you can share credentials with.

If you already have access to the trust you have selected, choose 'Yes' and you will be prompted to log in, using your access key for that trust. You'll then be able to share credentials using the steps above in this user guide.


If you try to share credentials you do not have in your digital wallet

If you attempt to share a credential that does not exist in your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet, you will see a screen like the one below.

You will need to go back to the Digital Staff Passport employee portal on your web browser. Return to the page where you selected the credentials you want to share and deselect the credential the Microsoft Authenticator app flagged as missing. You will then be able to proceed with sharing your other credentials by following the instructions above.
