83 NHS community trust, mental health trust and ICB sites (a total of 360 sites and 9000 users) benefit from improved connectivity, including 4 core sites, 37 new fibre to the premises (FTTP) and 42 existing FTTP sites.

Hertfordshire and West Essex

Challenge

Need for collaboration technology across sites e.g. intent to use MS Teams, SharePoint online and Webex, however struggle with insufficient bandwidth for business and clinical requirements The OS patching and client-based protection for assets is often hampered due to oversaturated network bandwidth andthe benefits of feature rich cloud-based systems for example, EPR, bed management, Power BI reporting not realised due to poor connectivity.

Finally, a distributed network requires engineers to travel for over two hours to provide on site support when issues arise.

Solution

Extension of the SD-WAN technology across the ICS to provide and maximize connectivity across new and existing locations an ICS-wide connectivity approach. Improved bandwidth stability and connectivity for 95% of sites and at two core network data centre sites.

Deployment of cyber security application (Cisco Umbrella) to all devices on the network.

Increased use of remote support software enabling engineers to diagnose and fix issues remotely.
