West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB)

84 GP practices in Kirklees and Wakefield are receiving improved connectivity through fibre (FTTP) connectivity.

Challenge

Insufficient bandwidth for clinical requirements (for example, accessing patient records prior to an appointment can be extremely slow at some sites).

Need for improved communication and collaboration technology across sites and with the ICB.

Network demand spikes, particularly when patches are deployed which can impact connectivity.

Solution

Fibre is being provided to the premises of GP practices.

Improved connectivity enables confident use of of collaboration tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint online and Webex.

Any Qualified Providers (AQPs) (for example, those that treat neck and back pain), that hold contracts at GP sites are able to share large image data files using shared connectivity.
