Wireless on the move
Wireless on the Move will provide a toolkit of solutions to improve the quality and coverage of connectivity in the community and neighbourhoods.
Connectivity has a critical role to play in delivering digitally mature health services and NHS organisations must make plans to ensure digital transformation is not hindered by poor wireless connectivity.
The Wireless on the Move workstream will support all NHS organisations delivering care in community and neighbourhood settings with improved access to digital systems through better wireless connectivity.
Wireless Connectivity Toolkit
During the financial year 2025/26, we are undertaking discovery work to understand the challenges faced and connectivity solutions in use by healthcare workers operating away from NHS sites. This work will inform the creation of Connectivity Toolkit to be introduced from the financial year 2026/27. The toolkit will include:
- evaluation of technical solutions, including different SIM options
- data to inform decision-makers and frontline staff of the best connectivity options available to them
- best practice approach to using available Wi-Fi services, such as Wi-Fi Roaming (GovWifi, GovRoam), public hotspots and domestic Wi-Fi
- policy, advice and guidance from the Connectivity Hub to inform business cases and guide investment decisions
How to get involved
We want to hear from NHS providers and integrated care boards (ICBs) to help shape the Connectivity Toolkit. Get in touch to share your organisation’s connectivity challenges or successes.
Complete this short form to influence investment plans and help improve community-based digital healthcare.
