Pausing the service

How to temporarily pause the Register with a GP surgery service.

You may need to temporarily stop taking registrations through Register with a GP surgery.

 You can stop taking registrations through:

  • your practice profile on NHS.UK
  • the unique link for your practice website
  • both of these places

You must continue to provide patients with another way to register at your practice.

If that is not possible, practices must follow the process set out in the Primary Care Policy and Guidance Manual.

If you are using auto registration

Patient information will not transfer to your clinical systems if you pause the service. You will need to use your existing manual processes to register any new patients.

Change your settings

To stop taking registrations in the service: 

  1. Sign in to NHS Profile Manager.
  2. Go to Patient registration service.
  3. Select View details next to the practice you want to change the settings for.
  4. Select Change next to Patient access.
  5. Choose an option and select Continue.

Remember to remove any local links to the service.
