Telling patients their registration is successful

This service is only for patients who:

  • are transferring from another GP practice
  • have provided contact details in their application

Depending on the contact details the patient gave in their application, we will try to send messages in this order:

  • NHS App
  • email
  • text message
  • letter by post

This will not cost your practice anything.

Patients who are registering with a GP for the first time will get a letter from Primary Care Support England (PCSE). They will not get a registration message from the service.

How patients can get a registration message

Patients must have provided at least 1 of the following to get a registration message:

  • a mobile number
  • an email address
  • a postal address

Why patients are not sent registration messages

We do not send a registration message if the patient:

  • is rejected by your practice
  • has not provided any contact details
  • moves to your practice as a result of a bulk transfer, such as a practice merging

You will need to follow your standard processes for communicating with patients in these groups.
