Ambulance Data Set Pilot
Data Provision Notice to require the submission of data from those ambulance services which have agreed to participate in a pilot of EPR data for the Ambulance Data Set.
Overview
NHS Digital has been directed by NHS England to establish and operate a system to enable the collection and analysis of operational and clinical data from all ambulance services in England.
This Notice is in respect of data from Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems, the collection of which will first be undertaken on a pilot basis.
The pilot will assess whether the data items can be used to enable ambulance services to identify variation and best practice to advance both clinical and operational delivery at a local and national level and improve patient care through secondary use analysis (i.e. not for the direct care of the patient).
The EPR data will be used by NHS England along with 111/999 operations data from Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. This CAD collection has successfully moved out of pilot and is now established as a live collection, with its own Data Provision Notice.
Scope
This Notice is for:
- NHS ambulance services.
The initial pilot participant is Yorkshire Ambulance Service. Other ambulance services will be listed here as they join the pilot.
Period
The EPR pilot starts in October 2022. The exact timings will be agreed with each pilot participant.
Updates
7 October 2022
A revised Notice (version 1.7) has been issued to confirm the start of the EPR pilot in October 2022 and the move of the CAD pilot to the live environment.
